Early Decision*

Choosing to apply Early Decision signifies your unwavering commitment to UConn as your top-choice institution. Early Decision is a binding commitment, meaning that if admitted, you agree to enroll at UConn and withdraw any applications submitted to other colleges. Early Decision applicants will submit their completed application and all supporting materials by November 1. A completed Self-reported Student Academic Record (SRAR) will be required of Early Decision applicants. For more information visit our SRAR frequently asked questions.

Notifications of admission decisions will be released in mid-December. Early Decision applicants who are accepted to their first choice campus and major must accept their offer of admission no later than January 15.

Special Circumstances within the Early Decision Agreement

  • Early Decision applicants who are not admitted to their first choice campus or do not receive their first choice major are not committed to the Early Decision Agreement.
  • If a decision is deferred to the traditional admissions cycle, the Early Decision applicant is no longer committed to the Early Decision Agreement.
  • Students applying Early Decision as a first-choice major within the School of Fine Arts (with the exception of Design/Technical Theatre, Puppet Arts, and Theatre Studies) and meet the criteria for admission will receive a non-binding admissions offer to the Academic Center for Exploratory Students. Once the required audition or portfolio has been reviewed by the Admissions Committee, the major may be updated in early March.
  • Early Decision applicants who are also applying to a Special Program will be bound by the Early Decision Agreement regardless of the outcome of the Special Program decision. Special Program decisions will be released in early March.

Please allow several business days for document processing. All documents must be received by the application deadline to be considered on time. Late applications and applications not completed by the deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis. Admitted students for the fall semester have until May 1 to secure their place at UConn by paying their enrollment fee. Admissions decisions made after May 1 have an enrollment fee deadline of two weeks from the date of the decision notification.  For spring semester, admitted students have an enrollment deposit deadline of two weeks from the date of the decision notification.
